Surgery Information

Preparing for surgery is an important part of the process. Please take a moment to read and understand the following information. We want to make your surgical experience at TRMC as smooth and convenient as possible. Never hesitate to contact your physician with any specific questions you might have about your surgery. Before Surgery
Unless otherwise instructed by your physician, please refrain from drinking or eating anything after midnight the night before your surgery. Please know that this would include water (except for any minimal amounts to take oral medication and only the water necessary to brush your teeth). 

  • Please do not use tobacco products, chewing gum or mints. 
  • Be sure to bring your glasses, contacts or any items you might need for normal sight with a case to store them in. 
  • Dress in loose fitting clothing.
  • Please leave all your jewelry, watches, rings and piercings, etc. at home.
  • Dont forget your insurance cards and a valid drivers license.
  • Bring a list of your medication and the supplements you take on a regular basis.
  • Arrange for transportation to and from your procedure, you will not be able to drive yourself.
  • Let your physician know of any fever, nausea or any other abnormal condition you may be experiencing prior to your arrival.
  • Please plan to arrive at the hospital at the appointed time or at least 2 hours prior to your procedure.
  • Parking at TRMC is convenient and free. Please do not park at the Emergency Entrance.
  • Patient loading and unloading can be accomplished at the side door entrance in the yellow parking spaces designed for patient loading and unloading.

Admission
Please check in with the main lobby desk upon arrival. You will be directed to the appropriate destination promptly.

Pre-Op
Upon check in, our staff will make sure you, your family and friends will be in a comfortable area to await the next step.

Post-Op
Immediately following your surgical procedure, you will be taken to a Post Operative Care Area where your level of pain and discomfort will be assessed; so that the proper medications and their effectiveness can be determined. The discharge process begins at this pint and you will be receiving instructions on your post-operative care and how the follow up with your physician. Same Day Surgery patients, once they have been cleared for discharge, will be escorted to their transportation by one of our staff.
